Abstract

About 300 years (from 1714 to 1995) in the Russian state there was a special women's awards. What were the awards and why they were meant for women only? What was their symbolic meaning, and what are the properties of female nature they primarily appealed? Did the division of awards into male and female gender discrimination, was it the consequence of male chauvinism, because it was established-they mostly men? To these questions the author tries to answer, he embarked on a research path at the junction of faleristics, historical sociology and the sociology of knowledge. This is a new direction of sociological search, we propose to call the sociology of award Affairs.
