Abstract

Sociology has always had a number of paradigms, and that meant tension, intellectual, and sometimes political, conflicts between individual paradigms. But one conflict has been a constant: the contrasting perspectives of "actor" and prospects of "the system", even if known to sociologists — that is, those that provided the most significant intellectual influence in General tried to "connect" or to combine these two positions.
